Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cost Engineer on behalf of our client. The Cost Engineer will be responsible for cost estimation, cost control, forecasting, reporting, and providing commercial support to projects, helping ensure delivery on budget and within scope.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain cost estimates, budgets, and cost control documentation.

Develop and manage cost forecasts and provide variance analysis versus budget.

Monitor project costs, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Support commercial activities including change control, claims preparation, and contract cost assessments.

Produce regular cost reports and dashboards for stakeholders and senior management.

Collaborate with planning, risk, procurement, and project teams to ensure integrated project controls.

Maintain accurate cost records, cost codes, and interfaces with financial systems.

Support month-end and project reporting cycles and ad-hoc financial analysis as required.
Required Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Cost Engineer, Cost Analyst, or similar role within project-based industries.

Strong knowledge of cost estimating, cost control, forecasting techniques, and commercial fundamentals.

Experience with project controls tools and financial systems (industry-standard tools preferred).

Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication skills with the ability to present cost data to technical and commercial stakeholders.

Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and under project deadlines.
Desirable

Experience working in major projects or capital programs.

Familiarity with risk and schedule integration into cost forecasts.

Professional certifications or formal training in cost engineering, project controls, or related disciplines.
Salary: £38,000 - £95,000 GBP
