Lead Planner
Fife, Scotland | Hybrid Working (3 Days On Site)
The Opportunity:
We are supporting the delivery of a major infrastructure programme in Scotland and are seeking an experienced Lead Planner to join a high-performing project controls team.
This role is ideal for a senior planning professional with extensive experience in Primavera P6 and a strong background in regulated infrastructure environments. You will take a leading role in the development, management, and assurance of complex project schedules, ensuring robust planning standards are maintained across a high-value programme of works.
Working closely with project management, commercial, and delivery teams, you will provide planning leadership, schedule integrity, and performance insight to support effective decision-making and successful programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development, maintenance, and integration of complex project schedules using Primavera P6.

Establish and manage baseline programmes in line with project governance requirements.

Provide schedule assurance, validation, and forensic analysis across project plans.

Conduct critical path analysis and identify key programme risks and opportunities.

Support NEC contract planning requirements, including Clause 31 and Clause 32 programme submissions.

Review and challenge contractor programmes to ensure compliance, logic integrity, and realism.

Produce high-quality planning reports, dashboards, and progress updates for senior stakeholders.

Support change impact assessments and evaluate schedule implications of project variations.

Drive consistency in planning standards, methodologies, and reporting across the programme.

Mentor and support junior planners within the project controls team.

Contribute to programme governance, assurance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You:
We are interested in professionals who can demonstrate:

10–15 years’ experience in major project planning roles within infrastructure, construction, energy, utilities, or regulated sectors.

Advanced expertise in Primavera P6.

Strong working knowledge of NEC contract planning requirements, particularly Clause 31 and Clause 32 programmes.

Proven experience delivering schedule assurance, critical path analysis, and integrated programme controls.

Ability to review, challenge, and improve complex contractor and integrated schedules.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement with senior delivery teams.

Experience in large-scale, multi-disciplinary infrastructure environments.
