Role: PMO Lead

Role Overview


Due to an increase in PMO-related new wins,  Walker Sime  are seeking to appoint an experienced  PMO Lead  to develop and mature the organisation’s PMO capability. The role will be responsible for establishing, leading and managing multiple client PMOs, ensuring consistent, high‑quality delivery across a diverse portfolio of projects and programmes.

This is a senior, visible position within the business, offering the opportunity to shape the PMO service line, build and lead a growing team, and deliver class‑leading PMO services to an extensive and varied client base.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of a scalable PMO framework aligned to Walker Sime best practice and client requirements

Establish, manage and govern multiple client PMOs across a variety of sectors and delivery environments

Provide effective portfolio, programme and project controls including planning, reporting, risk, issue, change and dependency management

Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, providing clear insight, challenge and recommendations

Define and embed standards, processes, tools and templates to ensure consistency, quality and efficiency

Build, mentor and lead a high‑performing PMO team, including resource planning, capability development and performance management

Support business development activities by contributing to bids, proposals and client presentations

Drive continuous improvement across the PMO service line, incorporating lessons learned and best practice

Experience & Skills


Essential

Proven experience in establishing and leading PMOs within a consultancy or complex delivery environment

Strong understanding of portfolio, programme and project management disciplines and controls

Demonstrable experience managing multiple stakeholders at senior and executive level

Experience of developing PMO processes, governance frameworks and reporting suites

Strong leadership and people management capability


Desirable

Professional qualifications such as PPM, PRINCE2, MSP, MoP, APM or equivalent

Experience of working across regulated or infrastructure environments

Commercial awareness, including supporting bids and new business activities
