Project Controller

Scotland | Hybrid Working | Dounreay Site Visit Once Per Month (3–4 Days)

The Opportunity

We are supporting a major programme within the UK nuclear sector and are seeking an experienced Project Controller with a strong planning background to join a high-performing project controls team.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's most significant nuclear decommissioning and environmental restoration programmes. Working within a complex, highly regulated environment, you will provide integrated project controls support across planning, performance management, reporting, risk, change, and project governance activities.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring project performance is accurately measured, monitored, and reported, supporting informed decision-making across a portfolio of complex engineering, demolition, construction, and waste management projects.

About the Programme

The programme supports the ongoing decommissioning, demolition, waste management, and environmental restoration of a historic nuclear research and development site in Scotland.

Following decades of pioneering reactor research and development, the site is now focused on safely dismantling facilities, managing radioactive waste, and restoring the environment through one of the largest nuclear clean-up programmes in the UK.

This long-term programme involves complex engineering, construction, demolition, and waste management activities delivered within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of integrated project controls across a portfolio of projects.

  • Develop, maintain, and analyse project schedules using Primavera P6.

  • Monitor project performance against approved baselines and key milestones.

  • Produce project controls reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.

  • Support forecasting, progress measurement, and schedule performance analysis.

  • Coordinate project reporting cycles and governance requirements.

  • Assist with risk, opportunity, and change management activities.

  • Work closely with project managers, planners, commercial teams, and technical stakeholders.

  • Identify emerging project risks, schedule impacts, and delivery challenges.

  • Support programme assurance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure project controls processes are applied consistently across the programme.

About You

We are interested in professionals who can demonstrate:

  • Experience as a Project Controller, Project Controls Engineer, or Project Controls Analyst within major project environments.

  • Strong planning and scheduling experience using Primavera P6.

  • Understanding of integrated project controls principles, including planning, performance reporting, risk, change, and governance.

  • Experience monitoring project performance and supporting project delivery teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

  • Experience working within highly regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, energy, infrastructure, or major construction projects is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with earned value management and project performance metrics would be advantageous.
